Hey, I'm Giulia
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Rome, Italy.
A while back, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Italy wasn't in the original plan. As with many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more substantial.
The initial months were overwhelming — unfamiliar systems, new routines, heightened expectations. Daily tasks seemed more complicated than they needed to be.
The Adjustment Period
Culture shock, ambiguity, and hands-on learning were common. Yet over time, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built Orchard Paper Trail
Most information online leaned toward corporate relocation tips or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Italy.
What This Site Covers (And What It Does Not)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Italy
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated only when there is a real change
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Italy goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I will continue recording what we find.
If you have questions about family life in Rome or anywhere in Italy, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Warm regards,
Giulia
